Students from the University of Michigan at VSE
Last week, the Prague University of Economics and Business (VSE) welcomed a group of 26 students from its partner university, the University of Michigan, who came as part of a Study Tour organized by the International Office (OZS). The program of the visit offered a unique combination of lectures by experts with excursions to Czech companies, which allowed the students to broaden their academic knowledge and at the same time get to know the Czech culture and work environment.
The first day of the Study Tour started with a guided tour of Prague, during which students got to know the Czech capital. The academic part of the programme at VSE then included lectures on topics as leadership, history of Czech countries and international negotiations. Students from the University of Michigan also had the opportunity to engage in discussions with students from VSE, thus sharing experiences from different academic and cultural backgrounds.
Beyond the classroom, the group explored the Czech Republic’s business landscape through company visits. The students visited the Škoda Auto car factory in Mladá Boleslav, where they got a glimpse into the workings of the largest car manufacturer in the Czech Republic, took a tour of the Plzeňský Prazdroj brewery or visited the Rückl Glassworks in Nižbor, where they had the unique opportunity to try out the glass blowing process. During a tour of Radio Free Europe, they learned about the important role of this organization in the field of global media and journalism as such. The week concluded with a cultural excursion to the UNESCO-listed town of Kutná Hora, where students immersed themselves in the Czech history and architecture.
Prague University of Economics and Business is delighted to host a very inspiring and dynamic group of students from the University of Michigan and to provide them with valuable academic and professional insights. This visit also reinforced the importance of the collaboration between the two universities.
